Are You Socially Savvy?

It seems as though March has been another busy month for me. There have been various small family crises, as well as a constant battle with the snowy weather. I am certainly ready for spring!

I have been busy switching over to the Optimize Press theme for my blog, and still have more work to do on that. There are a couple of  reasons why I decided to switch. The theme I had before is becoming outdated, and since I’m still learning all the techy mumbo-jumbo I thought this new theme would make it easier for me. The other reason I think I’m going to like this is because one is able to create sales pages, landing pages, membership portals as well as utilize other functions through this one theme. So far, I have found it easy to use and am hoping it will be a time saver.

Time savers are a good thing! I have a plan, however I seem to be struggling to find my own rhythm to get things done in a timely manner.  As well as the learning, building and creating we do in our business, there must be daily time set aside for interacting with others.

Service is a priority for me. Customer service is very important, and by “customer”, I mean anyone who interacts with me for help. There is also the service of my peers. Those who are also building a business and who are at basically the same level of internet marketing as me. I also want to follow my mentors closely, and pay attention to what they are doing.

I am learning that interaction is vital. Why? We need relationships with our customers in order to know what their needs are. What problems can we help them solve? What could we create that would be beneficial to them? What will be our next step?

We need to interact with our business peers to support them. In turn, we get support. We also need future JV partners. We need to get to know people in order to do that. I sometimes find internet marketing lonely. It is so nice to be able to share the things we are doing in our business with others simply for the camraderie, as well as to give and receive ideas and advice.

What about mentors? I don’t know about you, but I would rather follow someone successful than try to figure all of this out on my own!

I feel that social interaction is extremely important in our business, and is something that needs to be done a daily basis.

Are you “socially savvy”? Do you set aside a particular percentage of your online time to interact with others? Do you have any tricks up your sleeve to get this done in a timely manner without getting “lost” on social sites, thus not getting other necessary work done? Please feel free to share with us in the comment box!

Working on your own can make it very hard to interact with other people and I find myself making more contact with people by phone than by face to face meetings.

I do find that you can soon get lost hopping from one page to another on the Internet until you are so far from where you started that you have forgotten what you were looking for in the first place!

I’m enjoying the blog commenting, as now, and making new friends on the P2S programme as we are all following a good mentor in John Thornhill and the training so far is first class. I’m sure there will be some actual physical meetings in the future once we get established such as the Manchester meeting that is upcoming.

    All teh best going forward

      Thanks for your comments, Dave.

You are right, it is so easy to hop from link to link on the internet! It is nice to make new friends on the P2S program and I am enjoying all aspects of it. Actually meeting together physically is certainly something to look forward to in the future!

Hi Rose, totally agree with you that it’s much better to have someone as a mentor who has actually ‘been there and done that’. Saying that, I’ve been amazed at the depth and variety of knowledge that a lot of people have got in the P2S group.

I think in a way we are all mentors to each other!

    Great post Rose.

      Hi Jon

It is a great asset to be exposed to so much variety of content and knowledge. This is a great group and we can learn so much from each other!

    Hi Rose
    Love your header!
You have got me thinking about mentoring – I believe there is a real place for mentors in internet marketing.

By definition, we work on our own in our home office in what undoubtedly is a small business. Someone told me once that small business ownership is one of the loneliest things you can do.
I have found great cooperation from fellow P2S members when I’ve had problems and that is fantastic.

But having a mentor would be really useful to me.

Thanks for your kind comment about the header Wayne – I just have a little bit of work to do to get the size fixed up, as I previously had a different theme.

Maybe one day in the near future you will be a mentor! I agree that small business ownership is very lonely, but the P2S group is great, and also John is always available when you need to talk to him. We just need to keep our goals in front of us at all times!

    Hello Rose,

There are some very interesting point raised your post, especially about finding your rhytm to get things done in a timely manner, build a business and get everything, and interacting with others and then add to that a day job and normal daily chores. Due to falling behind by a couple of weeks on the P2S course due work and other commitments I have realised I need to manage my time much better so have now set aside certain times on certain days that I will work on my internet business and blog commenting with all the P2S community.

That is one of the great things of this course and that is the community/family that has been formed. Like mentioned Internet Marketing can be very much working alone so its a great asset to us all that we can ask for help, receive pointers, give encouragement and learn from each other.

    Many Thanks

      Thanks for your comments, Dominic

I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one struggling with time management! Good for you for realizing your time issue, and doing something about it. Making appointments with ourselves to only work on our business at that time is a great idea. The P2S group is great for keeping us all on track!
